Brand & Web
Design FAQs
Everything you might want to know before starting a branding or website project.
What kind of businesses do you work with?
I work with ambitious businesses that have outgrown DIY design, inconsistent branding or websites that no longer reflect where the business is going. Most projects involve creating a new brand, repositioning an existing one or designing a website that makes the business look more established, credible and considered.
Do you work with startups or established businesses?
Both. I work with early-stage businesses that want to build a strong brand from the beginning, as well as established companies that need to reposition, rebrand or improve an outdated website.
Where are you based, and do you work with international clients?
I’m an independent Brand & Web Designer based in London, working with clients across the UK, Europe and internationally. Projects are managed remotely, so location rarely affects the process.
Why hire an independent designer instead of an agency?
Working with an independent designer gives you direct access to the person actually developing the creative work. There are fewer layers, faster communication and a more focused process, while still covering both brand identity and website design within one project.
What is included in a brand identity project?
A brand identity project can include logo design, typography, colour palette, visual direction, supporting graphic elements and brand guidelines. The exact deliverables depend on what your business needs rather than forcing every project into the same package.
Do I need a full brand identity or just a logo?
If your business already has a clear visual system and simply needs a specific logo solution, a smaller scope may be enough. If the brand feels inconsistent, generic or difficult to apply across your website and marketing, a broader identity system will usually create more value than a logo alone.
Can you redesign an existing brand without starting again?
Yes. A rebrand does not always mean replacing everything. Existing brand equity can be retained while refining the logo, typography, colour, visual system and digital application to create something more cohesive and commercially appropriate.
Will I receive brand guidelines?
Brand guidelines can be included to document how the identity should be used across different touchpoints. Depending on the project, these may cover logos, colour specifications, typography, imagery, graphic elements and practical examples.
What platform do you use for website design?
I primarily design and build websites in WordPress using Elementor Pro. This allows me to create bespoke, responsive websites while giving clients a practical content management system they can continue using after launch.
Do you design and build the website yourself?
Yes. For most projects, I handle both the website design and WordPress build, so there is no separate handover between designer and developer. This keeps the visual direction and final implementation closely aligned.
Do you use website templates?
I design around the individual brand and business rather than starting with a pre-designed website template. Existing tools and frameworks may be used where they improve performance or functionality, but the visual system and page experience are developed specifically for the project.
Will my website work on mobile?
Yes. Websites are designed responsively so that layouts, typography, navigation and content adapt across desktop, tablet and mobile devices.
Will my website be SEO-friendly?
Websites are built with core on-page SEO foundations in mind, including semantic heading structure, responsive layouts, page hierarchy and the ability to manage metadata. More extensive keyword research, SEO strategy or ongoing search optimisation can be scoped separately when required.
Can you redesign my existing WordPress website?
Yes. I can redesign existing WordPress websites when the underlying setup is suitable, or recommend a cleaner rebuild when working around the existing structure would create unnecessary limitations.
Can you build an e-commerce website?
Yes. I design WooCommerce websites for businesses that need to sell products online, including product pages, shop layouts, cart and checkout experiences and the wider visual system around the store.
Will I be able to update my website myself?
Yes. WordPress and Elementor make it possible to update common content such as text, imagery and pages without rebuilding the website. I can also provide guidance at handover where needed.
Who owns the final website and branding files?
Once the project has been completed and the final balance has been paid, the agreed final design assets are handed over for your business to use. Any third-party fonts, plugins, stock imagery or licensed assets remain subject to their own licence terms.
How much does branding and website design cost?
Pricing depends on the scope, complexity and deliverables required. Brand identity, website design and combined brand-and-web projects are quoted individually, with a fixed project fee provided once the scope is clear.
How long does a branding or website project take?
Timelines depend on the size and complexity of the project, content availability and feedback turnaround. Once the scope is agreed, you’ll receive a clear project timeline before work begins.
